Uni-Draulik and Uni-Drill are proud to announce their return to full-Quebec ownership. This occurred following a joint acquisition by Mathieu Dubé-Vaillancourt, the CEO of both companies, and MARCOTTE, a manufacturer of diamond drilling equipment and steel structures for the mining sector. This significant transaction establishes an integrated hub of expertise for the mining and industrial sectors, benefiting all customers and suppliers of the three companies.

Founded in Quebec City in 2003, Uni-Draulik specializes in hydraulic and electro-hydraulic engineering. Uni-Drill was founded in Val-d’Or in 2015 and is dedicated to manufacturing diamond drilling equipment. Since its inception, Uni-Drill has worked closely with Uni-Draulik. The two companies came under American ownership in 2023 when they were acquired by Singer Industrial, a Dallas, Texas-based distributor.

Mathieu Dubé-Vaillancourt continues to lead the two companies, which are now 45% owned by him and 55% owned by MARCOTTE. The combined group has 95 employees in Val-d’Or, Quebec City, and East Angus.

Founded in Val-d’Or in 1995, MARCOTTE specializes in machining, assembly, and production for the mining, forestry, and agriculture sectors. The company is recognized for its surface and underground mining exploration drills and its expertise in specialized steel structures for the mining industry. MARCOTTE has 70 employees spread across its facilities in Val-d’Or and East Angus.

This acquisition occurs at a time when Quebec’s mining sector is experiencing sustained growth, and local control of supply chains is becoming increasingly important. This transaction reflects a commitment to leveraging expertise, teams, and a customer base deeply rooted in Quebec. Decisions will now be made in Val-d’Or and Quebec City rather than Dallas.

        Continuity is assured

Uni-Draulik and Uni-Drill will retain their names, teams, and relationships with their respective client bases. Furthermore, no changes are planned for current employees. Hiring has already begun, with at least ten new positions planned over the next year.

        An Expanded Offering

This merger creates unprecedented industrial synergy. Uni-Draulik’s hydraulic and electro-hydraulic engineering expertise will be leveraged across the entire range of MARCOTTE drilling rigs. Meanwhile, Uni-Drill will be able to draw on MARCOTTE’s expertise in machining, welding, and manufacturing.

Customers of the three companies will thus have access to a comprehensive catalogue of underground, stationary, and mobile drilling rigs, in addition to surface drilling rigs, for which MARCOTTE is renowned.

Uni-Draulik continues to offer its customers and suppliers access to its network of hydraulic system components and automation control systems, which has been expanded to include the entire group. For customers, this means fewer intermediaries and shorter lead times for obtaining the parts needed to maintain and repair their equipment.

        Comprehensive, Quebec-Based Service

From drilling to replacement parts, including machining and hydraulics, Uni-Draulik, Uni-Drill, and MARCOTTE now offer all the expertise needed to support customers and suppliers throughout the supply chain. This unprecedented offering is a new milestone of which Uni-Draulik and Uni-Drill are particularly proud.
